Alarms
As the concentrator is dependent on an electrical power source, a power cut immediately triggers an alarm. The small storage tank supplies oxygen for about 8 minutes at minimal flows (500ml/min) during anaesthesia with the ADE system. A UPS battery can provide electrical power for longer periods but it is recommended that at least one oxygen cylinder be kept as a back-up which will last for many hours at low flows with the ADE system. With the "Free-Ox" machine an oxygen cylinder can be quickly connected with the quick-release mechanisms on the oxygen inlet manifold.
